Bayliss tops Misano day 1

Troy Bayliss has stormed to the top of the time sheets at the last official World Superbike test this season.

Fonsi Nieto was the second fastest rider in the 26-strong crowd at Misano finishing just ahead of Troy Corser.

New factory Ducati rider Lorenzo Lanzi finished the day in fourth with Yukio Kagayama taking fifth fastest time to make if five different bikes in the top five.

The only riders missing from the lineup were the Ten Kate Honda squad of James Toseland and Karl Muggeridge.

Muggeridge is sitting out the next race at Valencia due to injury but Italian rider Giovani Bussei has been drafted in as a replacement.

Frankie Chili looks set to sit out the rest of the season after highsiding out of the morning session and breaking his pelvis and two ribs.
