Neil Hodgson took fifth place in the second America Superbike race on Sunday, failing to match his podium performance in the first race.

The former World Superbike champ started from second on the grid but slipped back to fifth at the lights, a place that he held to the line, 28 laps later.

Suzuki rider Matt Mladin dominated his second race of the weekend, winning with a 14 second lead over second placed team-mate Aaron Yates. The third Yoshimura Suzuki rider Ben Spies took the final place on the podium.

Hodgson was left to battle for fourth place with American Honda rider Jake Zemke while his Ducati Austin team-mate Eric Bostrom fought with Zemke’s team-mate Miguel Duhamel for sixth.

Both the Ducati riders eventually lost out to the Hondas leaving Hodgson with fifth in the race and fourth place in the championship, 26 points behind Mladin.
