Corser tops first day

Troy Corser has taken provisional pole position after the first qualifying session at the Misano round of the World Superbike championship.

The Ducati squad dominated the opening practice but Regis Laconi slipped down to third place in the afternoon session behind the Honda of Max Neukirchner.

Karl Muggeridge closed the Honda noose in fourth place followed by current champion James Toseland, Frankie Chili, Yukio Kagayama and Lorenzo Alfonsi.

After holding fifth place in the morning session Chris Walker slipped down to 19th on the PSG-1 Kawasaki.
