Troy Corser has been denied a double win at the Brno round of the World Superbike championship by Japanese Yamaha rider Noriyuki Haga.

Corser took the double the last time WSB visited the circuit nine years ago and looked set to do it again after leading the first race from start to finish, winning by more than six seconds.

But the Australian Suzuki rider, who is storming ahead in the championship, was beaten back by Haga who eventually won the second race by just over three seconds.

The first race saw Ducati team-mates James Toseland and Regis Laconi fight back from eighth and ninth to take the final two places on the podium.

Brit Chris Walker, who topped the first two qualifying sessions only to miss out on pole in the Superpole, looked set to take second place until the Ducati duo turned up forcing him to settle for fourth.

Honda rider Chris Vermeulen took third place in the second race followed by Norick Abe’s Yamaha France R1.

Frankie Chili came fifth in both races and looks like he is getting very attached to the position having come home in fifth in seven out of the last eight races.
