World Superbikes First Qualifying:

Troy Corser has claimed provisional pole for the World Superbike races at Brands Hatch with a lap of 1:27.123 on his Alstare Corona Suzuki. His time is 0.5 seconds quicker than Regis Laconi on the factory Ducati 999. Britain’s Chris Walker has taken a provisional third place on the Kawasaki ZX-10R to give something for the home fans to cheer as James Toseland manages ninth place. Fellow Brit and wildcard Dennis Hobbs is 19th on his Yamaha R1, ahead of 500GP winner Garry McCoy. amd Giovanni Bussei.

Troy Corser has sent a warning to his rivals by going fastest in the opening free practice session by over 0.7 seconds. He was the only rider to post a time in the 1:29s, with 1:29.923. Closest to him is Ben Bostrom, followed by Corser’s Suzuki team-mate Yukio Kagayama.

He displaced Barry Veneman in the final few moments of the session and was the only rider to drop below 1:39 in the session. British wildcard Cal Crutchlow has gone a great fourth quickest, with Tom Tunstall 17th and Craig Jones 20th.
