Toseland dominates free practice

James Toseland has finished the first Free Practice session of the 2004 WSB season quickest, in preparation for the races on Sunday, February 29. Sunny weather helped the Factory Ducati rider, with a temperature of 17C.

James Toseland posted the fastest time of 1:36.611, completing 21 laps in the process. Noriyuki Haga finished the session second quickest with a 1:37.233, and Regis Laconi was third on 1:37.297.

Chris Walker showed promise on the Foggy-Petronas FP-1, going fourth quickest, in front of team-mate Troy Corser. Leon Haslam was eight quickest on the Renegade Ducati.

Ducati rider Miguel Praia crashed out during the session.

The weather forecast for Saturday’s Superpole and race day on Sunday is also for warm sunshine.

In World Supersport, ValMoto Triumph’s Craig Jones finished practice tenth quickest. In Superstock John Laverty is fourth fastest, with David Gatenby 29th.
