Laconi takes commanding pole for Valencia

Factory Ducati rider Regis Laconi has taken pole for the opening WSB round at Valencia with a Superpole lap over one second quicker than his nearest rival.

Laconi put himself on pole with a 1:35.935 lap, over a second quicker than the 1:36.973 of team-mate James Toseland.

The surprises continued with WSB newcomer Chris Vermuelen taking the third spot on the grid with the Ten Kate FireBlade, posting a time of 1:36.977, with fellow rookie Leon Haslam rounding out the front row of the grid.
