Brands WSB faces axe?

Sunday may have seen the last Brands Hatch WSB round ever.

The contract between championship organisers and the circuit owner finished with Sunday’s race and the two sides have been unable to reach agreement on signing a new one.

Brands owner Jonathan Palmer is keen to keep WSB at Brands but is unwilling to match the huge ‘sanction’ fee being asked by WSB organisers.

Series promotor Paolo Flammini said: “We can have a big event at Silverstone. We’d like a big event at Brands. But we have a saying in Italy: ‘Everyone is useful, but nobody is necessary.”
