Xaus does double in Italy

Factory Ducati rider Reuben Xaus overshadowed team-mate Neil Hodgson with a double win at Misano in Italy.

Xaus charged through the pack in race one after a crash by Hodgson upset the established order, with the British rider lowsiding out of a commanding lead on lap one. While Toseland, Laconi and Chili fought for the race, Rueben Xaus was able to get in on the action.

In the later stages Laconi faded, with Toseland maintaining a watching brief behind a tempestuous battle between Chili and Xaus. Eventually with half-a-lap to go it proved too much for the Italian who highsided attempting to pass Xaus.

In race two both Hodgson and Chili attempted to make up for their earlier mishaps, but Xaus proved unbeatable. Despite Hodgson repeatedly leading, when Xaus stayed consistent he looked fastest throughout the race. Laconi and Lavillia echoed their results from race one and Chris Walker followed a fifth in race one with an eighth. Walker’s team-mate James Toseland was forced to retire with a mechanical problem.
