Bayliss qualifies on pole for Sunday

Troy Bayliss has continued his dominant season by claiming pole for Sunday’s race in Lausitz, Germany.

The reigning world champion qualified ahead of fellow Ducati rider Ben Bostrom, and his nearest championship rival, Colin Edwards.

Neil Hodgson claimed fourth, ahead of Ruben Xaus in fifth, Piefrancesco Chili in sixth, James Toseland in a creditable seventh place, Noriyuki Haga in eighth, Gregorio Lavilla on the lone works Suzuki in ninth, and Steve Martin in tenth.

Britain’s Chris Walker qualified in twelfth, with Mark Heckles 22nd.

Frenchman Fabien Foret will line up at the front of the World Supersport grid, ahead of Andrew Pitt and Katsuaki Fujiwara. Jamie Whitham starts from fifth on the grid, with Iain MacPherson seventeenth, James Ellison nineteenth, and Rob Frost 27th
