Roads: Ian Hutchinson joins forces with TAS Racing for 2022 Isle of Man TT

Ian Hutchinson will reunite with TAS Racing at his year’s Isle of Man TT to race the Milwaukee BMW Motorrad M1000RR.

The 16-time TT race winner last raced for Hector and Philip Neill’s squad at the 2016 and 2017 events. During that stint, Hutchinson won two Superstock races and one Superbike race. Hutchinson also finished second in the 2016 Senior and Superbike races onboard the old S1000RR.

“It’s been a crazy five years for me since I last rode for the TAS Racing Team,” Hutchinson said. “Coming back from injuries in 2018, then re-signing for TAS in 2020 but never getting to ride the bikes because of the Pandemic. Fingers crossed everything comes together for us this time, and also for the TT.

“Coming back to the team, where I’ve enjoyed my most recent success at the TT, was something I hoped would be possible throughout this winter and to hear the title sponsor is to be Milwaukee, really was the icing on the cake. Both TAS and Milwaukee have given me great success in the past, so I look forward to us all working together again in 2022.”

The new partnership with Milwaukee is just the latest chapter in the TAS Racing racing story. 2022 marks 40 years since Norman Brown led the privateer team to its first TT victory in the Senior 500cc race.

TAS Racing currently has a total of 18 victories and 44 podiums around the infamous Mountain Course. TAS Racing enter the 2022 event as an officially supported BMW Motorrad team.

“Road Racing and the Isle of Man TT is simply in our DNA at TAS Racing and after two years away, we are now looking forward to racing on the Isle of Man in June,” Philip Neil said. “The organising team has made some significant changes during that time away and this year’s TT has the potential to be the biggest ever.”

The partnership with Milwaukee has led to a stunning new livery for 2022. The design is primarily red for the title sponsor, but also features the black of BSB title sponsor SYNETIQ and the white commonly associated with TAS Racing.

Milwaukee has a long history in motorcycle racing and have previously sponsored teams in BSB and WSB, as well as specific races at the Isle of Man TT.

This year’s Isle of Man TT takes place between May 28 and June 10.
