Jefferies passed away on December 28, aged 73, and had been seriously ill for some time. Despite this, a determined Jefferies was able to attend the recent funerals of close friends Paul Smart and Peggy Appleyard. Prior to his death, Jefferies was in the Bradford Royal Infirmary.

The service will be followed by a private cremation at Nab Wood Crematorium. Refreshments will be served at the Bankfield Hotel following the Service.

Tony’s first victory at the TT came in 1971 when he won the 350cc Junior TT race onboard Yamsel. Riding a Triumph, Jefferies also won the Formula 750cc TT that year. In 1973 he was victorious in the Production 750cc race, again onboard a Triumph.

Sadly, his racing career came to an end in 1973 following a crash at Mallory Park during the Race of the Year event – breaking his back and being left paralysed as a result.

Away from the track, Tony played an important role in the family-run BMW motorcycle dealership, which won the Family Business of the Year accolade at the Telegraph & Argus’ Bradford Means Business awards in 2019.
