Pete Founds and Jevan Walmsley claimed the Billown Championship title after a stunning final race win at the Southern 100 in what was the race of the day at the famous event.

After battling with a host of other outfits including former world champion Tim Reeves in the earlier races, it all came down to an intense fight for victory with John Holden and Lee Cain in the final race of the day.

As the leading outfits started their final lap just 0.178sec separated Holden/Cain from Founds/Walmsley with Cain powering into the lead down the start and finish straight to take the lead.

Cain then re-paid the favour approaching Iron Gates and were able to reclaim the lead. It was then all down to the final drag to the finish, with Founds securing the win and title over the former champions by 0.131sec.

Crawford and Hardie clinched the final rostrum spot after Reeves and Wilkes suffered an engine blow-up on the start-finish straight.
