TT 2018: Wednesday practice abandoned after red flag

1 of 1

Wednesday evening’s Isle of Man TT practice has been abandoned after a red flag incident on the course.

Despite the threat of rain, the session got underway in near-perfect conditions at 18.20 local time, but was stopped as the leaders hit Ramsey on their opening lap.

Clerk of the Course Gary Thompson confirmed there had been an incident at Churchtown which had resulted in a tree on fire. It was later revealed that there was also an incident at Ballacrye as it was announced the session would be abandoned.

A statement from race organisers has confirmed that the second incident involved a collision between a rider and a course car. The rider has been airlifted to Nobles hospital. No further information is available on either incident at this time.
