NW200: Seeley on top in damp Superstock session

King of the North West Alastair Seeley led the way in a damp Superstock qualifying session to conclude the opening day of practice at this year’s Vauxhall International North West 200.

The Wee Wizard clocked a time of 4’48.458 to lead the session by 2.739 seconds over Bathams BMW’s Michael Rutter.

Early signs suggest that BMW will once again dominate the stock category with the second Tyco BMW of Dan Kneen and Michael Dunlop on his MD Racing BMW third and fourth.

Dean Harrison was the quickest non-BMW in the opening session in fifth for Silicone Engineering Kawasaki ahead of David Johnson in the stunning Gulf BMW colours.

James Hillier was seventh for JG Speedfit Kawasaki ahead of Honda’s Lee Johnston. James Cowton and Gary Johnson rounded out the top ten.

Qualifying resumes on the 8.9-mile Triangle course on Thursday ahead of the first races of the week getting underway on Thursday evening.
