NW200: Jessopp pips McLean to Supertwins pole

1 of 1

Martin Jessopp will start on pole position for this evening’s opening Supertwins race, narrowly pipping young gun Adam McLean to the top spot in glorious qualifying conditions.

McLean was just 0.038 seconds off Jessopp’s qualifying time and will start second despite falling unhurt in the closing stages of the session after clipping a kerb on the exit of a chicane.

James Cowton will start third ahead of Joey Thompson, who heads up row two on the Paton ahead of Derek McGee while veteran Jeremy McWilliams will set off sixth on Ryan Farquhar’s KMR Kawasaki.

Christian Elkin will start seventh ahead of Xavier Denis while Michael Sweeney and Darren Cooper round out the top ten.

The Supertwin race will be the last race away this evening with the first races expected to start around 6pm.
