TT: Opening practice cancelled because of mist

1 of 1

The 2017 Isle of Man TT got off to a disappointing start after a last minute call to cancel this evening’s scheduled practice sessions due to mist on the mountain.

Keen to get the 2017 event underway, organisers held off cancelling until the last possible minute in the hope that the heavy mist on the Snaefell mountain would clear in time for the newcomers to set off on their speed controlled laps.

Roads were closed in anticipation of things getting underway at 18.20, but after a short delay it was decided conditions wouldn’t suitably improve for the session to be considered safe.

As always, there was to be no big bike practice this evening with just the Supersport and Lightweight class heading out for a session after the newcomer laps.

Practice will now kick off on Monday evening, with the present forecast predicting decent conditions at present.

In order to give newcomers their speed controlled laps, the schedule will be tweaked, as seen below. You can view the most up to date schedule here

18.20:             Solo newcomers

18.25:             Sidecar newcomers

18.40 – 19.45  Superbike, Superstock, Supersport including newcomers all Classes except Lightweight
