TT 2017: Dunlop: 'We won the one everyone remembers'

1 of 1

“We won the one everyone remembers” were the words of Michael Dunlop after he’d finished decimating his rear Dunlop tyre in the winners’ enclosure after this afternoon’s Senior TT race.

The Ulsterman had just defied all odds to take victory in the TT’s blue riband race aboard the all-new Bennetts Suzuki GSX-R1000.

The victory is even more impressive for Dunlop considering he’s had limited laps on the big GSX-R after retiring from the lead of Sunday’s opening Superbike race, but he’s quick to forget that now he’s won the biggest race of the week.

“Today we made the impossible possible,” he said after the race. “It’s a brand new motorbike, Steve, Stuart and the boys did whatever they could to make this happen. It was hard work and I was under a lot of pressure. I can’t say enough to the big man, bike never missed a beat. We just had a problem in the first start before the red flag, but everybody remembers the Senior.

“I have been sore Stuart and Steve this last while to make, I think they think I am being a prick, but this is the end product and this is what we wanted the Senior TT, you can’t complain. The only time I want to be in here I want to be in the middle. We want to be here again and we got here again. We stopped the domination”
