Ulster GP: Hickman pips Anstey in opening Supersport session

Peter Hickman continued to lead the way in practice at the MCE Ulster Grand Prix with as he claimed provisional pole position for Saturday’s Supersport races.

Hickman clocked a lap of 3:32’316 (126.036mph) on the Smiths Trooper Triumph to place just 0.084 seconds ahead of Padgett’s Honda’s Bruce Anstey, who continues to show he’s keen to end a tough 2017 roads season on a high at Dundrod.

Dean Harrison was third quickest for Silicone Engineering Kawasaki ahead of William Dunlop on the IC Racing Yamaha.

Derek McGee was fifth quickest ahead of Lee Johnston, who returns to racing after his accident at the Isle of Man TT earlier this year.

Michael Dunlop was seventh quickest on the Carl Cox MD Racing Yamaha ahead of Conor Cummins and Jamie Coward while Adam McLean rounded out the top ten.

Just one more practice session remains this evening, a combined Superstock/Superbike session for Saturday’s Ulster Grand Prix races. The remainder of the schedule resumes tomorrow.
