Hutchinson on top as Anstey debuts RCV

1 of 1

Ian Hutchinson was on the verge of a 130mph lap on the first night of practice for the 1000cc classes at this year’s Isle of Man TT.

The Tyco BMW star recorded an average speed of 129.964mph on his final outing to top the timesheets from a hard-charging Michael Dunlop.

The evening also marked Bruce Anstey’s first laps on the RC213V-S MotoGP replica. The New Zealander first went out on his CBR1000RR Superbike before setting off down Glencrutchery road on the £138,000 Grand Prix replica to set a 122mph lap from a standing start. Two further laps for Anstey saw him up his pace to 127mph while recording the night’s fastest time through the speed trap at 193.4mph.

John McGuinness was third on the timesheets on his Fireblade ahead of team-mate Conor Cummins.

Dean Harrison enjoyed a strong night on his Silicone Engineering Kawasakis, his 128.044mph lap was the fifth fastest time of the night and recorded on his Superstock machine, placing him at the top of that category. The Yorkshireman was also fastest in the Supersport class, lapping faster than he did in Saturday’s opening session.

William Dunlop completed his first laps of the event after crashing out on Saturday; he recorded the 9th fastest time on his Yamaha R1 superbike and 8th fastest in the Supersport class.

Practice resumes tomorrow.
