Farquhar dominates for Supertwin win

Ryan Farquhar has led from start to finish to take the Supertwin win at the north West 200 from teammate Jeremy McWilliams – the Northern Irishman’s first international win since returning from retirement a year ago.

A late push from McWilliams closed down the gap at the end, but despite a move at Metropole, his team bosses’ lap record pace on the Coast Road home have him the legs just to stay out in front.

Jamie Hamilton was third, finishing behind Martin Jessopp but taking the place after a sixty second penalty for the Wiltshire rider for a jump start.

Speaking afterwards, Farquar commented: “Through the winter there was hours and hours of development went into building these bikes. There have been lots of other teams calling us up in recent years asking us to build bikes for them – but this year I’ve concentrated on developing my own machines instead.

“It would have been nice to fill the podium, but we’ve already done that here! Two old men coming out of retirement isn’t bad though, and it’s been a bit of a dream come true for us.”
