TT 2014: Moly secures win number 17 after twenty-five years

1 of 1

Sidecar legend Dave Molyneux has taken his 17th TT victory, spanning a 25 year career, in the Sure Sidecar Race 2 today at the Isle of Man TT with passenger Patrick Farrance taking his 3rd win to boot.

Early leaders John Holden and Andrew Winkle suffered mechanical problems and dropped from having an 18 second lead to eventuallynurse their outfit home in 3rd place, having also been overtaken by Race 1 winners Conrad Harrison and Mike Aylott who finished 2nd.

Molyneux had been closing down Holden and Winkle from the mid point of the second lap of the three lap race, and it looked set for a dramatic finish, but a misfiring engine for Holden meant he was forced to concede the lead he had built up.

Holden was just one of a number of sidecar crews who have suffered from engine misfortunes this year, as the class moved back from stock to Supersport-specification 600cc engines.
