Michael Dunlop to race Sidecar TT

1 of 1

Double TT winner Michael Dunlop has announced that he intends to race in both the sidecar and solo classes at the TT next year – in an attempt to become the first winner on both two and three wheels at the TT since Freddie Dixon in 1923.

The 22-year-old made a sensational start to his historic bid with a brilliant first test at Jurby on the Isle of Man last Wednesday, driving a Nick Crowe-built Honda outfit with TT-winning passenger Dan Sayle as ballast.

Dunlop said: “It felt really, really enjoyable.  Before the start I thought it was going to be hard work, hard to drive, but it wasn’t at all.

“I like the challenge of it and I would love to win a Superbike TT in the afternoon and then go out and win a Sidecar race in the evening.  That would be really cool.

“After today I have nothing but respect for the sidecar lads. It’s only when you try it yourself that you understand what is involved.”

Full story in MCN this Wednesday, November 16.
