Isle of Man TT: Jenny Tinmouth is fastest woman round TT

TT rookie and Supersport racer Jenny Tinmouth has lapped the circuit – yellow bib and all – at a blistering 116.483 mph average speed.

She rode a Sorrymate.com Racing Honda Fireblade in yesterday’s Superstock race, and hopes to be even faster in the Senior TT on Friday.

She takes the record from Maria Costello, who became the fastest women in 2004 with an average speed of just over 114mph.

Costello was magnanimous in being surpassed but hinted at a comeback: “I will be racing at the Manx this year on a really good ZX6, and I am also on the look out for a fast 750, but I am really pleased for Jenny she rode really well”.
