Moto2: Baldassarri takes debut win as Rins reignites title hopes

Lorenzo Baldassarri has romped to his first ever Grand Prix victory in front of his home fans in Misano, after picking his way through the field and hunting down Alex Rins, the man who led for most of the race.

However, second was good enough for Rins to reignite his title hoes, as he snatched the lead away from Johann Zarco back in fourth, with Takaaki Nakagami just squeezing the reigning champion off the podium.

However, it looks like an end to Brit Sam Lowes’ title hopes, after a quickshifter problem contributed to him falling from the battle for third and taking any realistic hopes of winning the crown with him.

His fellow Brit Danny Kent was also a faller in the race, tumbling out of a non-points-scoring position in the early stages.
