Late lap hands Antonelli pole

1 of 1

A lap right at the end of today’s Moto3 qualifying session has handed Niccolo Antonelli pole position for tomorrow’s French Grand Prix, bumping winner last time out Brad Binder back to second. Aron Canet completes the front row, his first ever.

Jorge Navarro heads the second row from the Sky VR46 KTM pairing of Romano Fenati and Nicolo Bulega – although the rookie could be in doubt after sustaining what looked like a wrist injury in the closing stages of the session.

It was another difficult day for Brit John McPhee, still struggling on the Peugeot-branded Mahindra machine, finishing the day back in 25th. However, the Scotsman says he’s pleased with his progress as they start to make steps forward in the dry with the bike.
