Moto3: Pawi’s rain dance pays off at Sachsenring

Khairul Idham Pawi has cruised to his second wet weather victory of the 2016 Moto3 season, leading from almost start to finish to take a dominant win from Andrea Locatelli and Enea Bastianini.

Scotsman John McPhee was an early leader of the race, but the Malaysian was almost unstoppable in the torrential weather, cruising away form the field despite a big moment at the half way point.

Jakub Kornfeil was fourth, rallying back from a bad qualifying position to make the most of the conditions, while Fabio Di Giannantonio just squeezing past McPhee on the last lap for fifth.

Jorge Navarro won the battle of the title leaders for seventh, just making it past Brad Binder to take a point out of the South African’s title lead. Jules Danilo and winner last time out in Assen Francesco Bagnaia rounded out the top ten.

Brit Danny Webb, riding for the Platinum Bay Mahindra team, managed to finish the day in 22nd despite a puncture wound to his shoulder suffered yesterday when he fell on oil leaking from his machine.
