Moto2: Nakagami takes debut victory

1 of 1

Takaai Nakagami has taken his debut Grand Prix win in tricky conditions at the Dutch TT, holding off reigning world champion Johann Zarco until the red flags brought a premature halt to the race and handed him the win.

Nakagami was the early leader, breaking away from the chasing group and leaving Zarco to hunt him down, but with rain closing in the early finish played into the Japanese rider’s hands.

Franco Morbidelli was also aided by the red flags in third, holding off the chasing Sam Lowes. A bad set-up gave the Brit no grip at the start, but he was able to capitalise on it at the end to find his pace, albeit to little too late.

Lorenzo Baldassarri was fifth, helping out Lowes’ title aspirations to hold off his main rival Alex Rins into sixth.
