Moto2: Zarco picks up first pole of 2016

1 of 1

Reigning Moto2 world champion Johann Zarco has picked up his first pole position of the 2016 season, holding off local rider and title rival Alex Rins by only 0035 to take the top spot.

Thomas Luthi rounded out the front row, while Takaaki Nakagami was the leader of the second row, just ahead of Sam Lowes. The Brit had a troubled session, crashing and managing to get his bike repaired only to catch traffic on a fast lap.

Axel Pons completed the second row, while Alex Marquez, Lorenzo Baldassarri, Marcel Schrotter and Sandro Cortese rounded out the top ten. Moto3 world champion Danny Kent was 21st.
