Moto2: Zarco makes it look easy at Montmelò

1 of 1

Reigning Moto2 world champion Johann Zarco has made victory look easy at his second home race at Barcelona’s Montmelò circuit to take his third win of the 2016 season.

The Frenchman sat behind title rival Alex Rins for most of the race before powering away with seeming ease in the final stages. The win closes down Rins’ lead in the championship to only ten points, with Zarco third, two points behind Sam Lowes.

Lowes had a disappointing race, finishing sixth behind the frantic battle for the final podium spot that was eventually won by Takaai Nakagami. Hafizh Syahrin and Thomas Luthi were also ahead of Lowes.

Reigning Moto3 world champion Danny Kent retired from the race in the early stages, after a problem with his brakes left him fighting a damaged front disc and pads and vibration in the handlebars.
