MotoGP: Iannone ahead in FP2, Crutchlow third

1 of 1

Andrea Iannone took to the top of the timesheets in this afternoon’s second free practice session at Silverstone for the British Grand Prix after pipping Maverick Viñales and Cal Crutchlow in the closing moments of the session.

The Ducati man was in the mix throughout the second practice session before jumping to the top to sit 0.3 seconds ahead of rivals at the end of the first day.

Winner last time out in Brno, Crutchlow impressed towards the end of the session as he jumped to the top of the table with the weekend’s first 2’01 of the weekend. He was joined in that club shortly after by Maverick Vinales, who was quickest this morning, before Iannone jumped ahead of them both.

Jorge Lorenzo was fourth for Movistar Yamaha, again ahead of rival Marc Marquez, with Valentino Rossi rounding out the top six.

Andrea Dovizioso was seventh ahead of the second Suzuki of Aleix Espargaro with Dani Pedrosa and Scott Redding completing the top ten.

MotoGP debutant Alex Lowes continued to impress aboard the Tech 3 Yamaha to finish the session in 19th place just 2.4 seconds off Iannone’s time but perhaps more crucially, just 1.3s seconds off team-mate Pol Espargaro.
