Lowes leads way as rain hinders Moto2 class

While there were many complaints about the cooler conditions on the opening day of the 2016 British Grand Prix at Silverstone, few had as much reason to complain as the Moto2 category who were limited to just a few laps in Friday practice due to rain in both of their two sessions.

Sam Lowes led the way in both sessions, but only managed eight laps before the rain came down in the second session. The biggest problem riders faced is it didn’t rain enough to wet the circuit entirely, but was too slippery for slicks meaning they were left with severely limited track time.

Thomas Luthi and Johann Zarco rounded out the top six, ahead of Italians Franco Morbidelli and Lorenzo Baldassarri, who both crashed in wet conditions this morning. Simone Corsi and Axel Pons rounded out the top ten.
