Marquez dominates on opening day in Texas

Marc Marquez has resumed where he left off the last time MotoGP took to track in Texas, by dominating the opening day of track action at the Circuit of the Americas.

Taking the top spot by three quarters of a second from Andrea Iannone and Maverick Viñales, the Repsol Honda rider could have been even faster if not for a slow crash at turn 20 while on what was set to be his fastest lap of the day.

Scott Redding was an impressive fourth, as the Pramac Ducati rider overcomes illness and travel chaos, with the factory Movistar Yamaha duo of Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi behind him.

Loris Baz was an equally impressive seventh on another satellite Ducati, while Andrea Dovizioso, Dani Pedrosa and Cal Crutchlow rounded out the top ten.
