Zarco wins from Lowes in tricky conditions

Reigning Moto2 world champion Johann Zarco has taken his first win of 2016, holding off a late charge from the Federal Oil Kalex of Sam Lowes to take the win in tricky conditions at the Termas de Río Hondo circuit.

Lowes was an early leader, but a small mistake running wide handed the Frenchman the lead – and despite a fastest lap of the race on the penultimate lap, a responding lap even faster handed the win to the world champion.

Jonas Folger was third, riding a smooth race after inheriting the final podium spot from Franco Morbidelli, whose low-speed rear slide left him finishing out of the points.

The race didn’t live up to expectations for the class’ other world champion, however, with Danny Kent finishing outside the points back in 16th.
