Honda has dominated the opening day of action at Motorland Aragon, with Repsol duo Dani Pedrosa and Marc Marque taking first and second ahead of the LCR Honda of Cal Crutchlow in third.

Only 0.081 separated the trio, with the next best man Valentino Rossi a quarter of a second back on San Marino Grand Prix winner Pedrosa. Pol Espargaró, the fastest man early on until he fell, and Maverick Viñales joined him on the provisional second row.

Espargaró was one of a handful of fallers at turn two, joined by brother Aleix, Eugene Laverty and Alex Lowes on the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 machine.

Jorge Lorenzo salvaged something from the day in seventh, after complaining about chatter all day, with Hector Barbera, Danilo Petrucci and Andrea Dovizioso rounding out the top ten.
