Miguel Oliveira will remain in MotoGP next season after signing a two-year deal to ride for the Prima Pramac Yamaha team.

The Portuguese rider is the first signing for the Pramac team following their decision to end a 19-year partnership with Ducati at the conclusion of the 2024 season. Pramac first joined the Italian manufacturer in 2005 in partnership with the D’Antin Team.

Oliveira is currently in his sixth premier class season having first joined Tech3 KTM in 2019. A year later Oliveira claimed the team’s first-ever victories at the Red Bull Ring and Portimao, before moving into the factory KTM squad in 2021.

Three more victories followed in Barcelona (2021), Indonesia (2022) and Thailand (2022), however Oliveira switched to Aprilia in 2023 with what is now known as the Trackhouse team. His time on the RS-GP has not been as successful, with a fifth place at COTA in 2023 his best result so far.

“It’s a great privilege for me to represent such an iconic brand in our sport as Yamaha,” Olveira said. “Through my years of progression and arriving in MotoGP, I’ve always looked upon the blue bikes with great enthusiasm. “It’s now a reality, and I want to thank Yamaha Motor Company for its commitment to me in such an important transition phase of the project.

“Mr. Lin Jarvis was a key figure in starting discussions and making this happen. I believe I can be useful in this transition period of bringing the bike back to the top. I want to thank Mr. Campinoti, Gino Borsoi, and all the Pramac staff for embarking on this journey together. I can’t be happier and more excited to get this new chapter started.”

Oliveira’s spot at Trackhouse Aprilia has already been taken by current Moto2 championship leader Ai Ogura, with Raul Fernandez keeping his seat alongside the Japanese rider.

Meanwhile, Jack Miller is expected to line-up alongside Oliveira in the Pramac Yamaha garage following his departure from Red Bull KTM. The Aussie is making way for Pedro Acosta. Oliveira and the Pramac team will receive full support from Yamaha next season.

“We are pleased to announce that a professional and experienced rider like Miguel Oliveira is joining the Yamaha line-up for 2025-26, and we bid him a warm welcome to the Yamaha MotoGP Project,” Yamaha Motor Racing Managing Director, Lin Jarvis said.

“Miguel is a rider who has the technical know-how, experience, speed, and precision needed to improve the performance of the Yamaha YZR-M1. We are really looking forward to working with him as a key member of the Yamaha MotoGP project, and he can count on our full support.”
