Sullivan Mounsey will race in the FIM Junior GP World Championship next season after securing a ride with the Aspar Junior team.

The 17-year-old will also continue to race in the Red Bull Rookies Cup having secured a best result of 12th during his maiden campaign this year.

Mounsey finished runner-up in the British Talent Cup in 2023 after taking five wins and a further six podiums. He was in the title fight right down to the wire, but was caught up in another rider’s crash at the final corner at Donington Park, and lost out on the title to Evan Belford as a result.

“I’m ecstatic to be joining the Aspar Team Junior family,” Mounsey said. “Ever since I was a kid, Aspar was one of my favourites on the MotoGP game. So, to come from playing on an Xbox, to racing a CFMOTO for Aspar is phenomenal. It’s such a proud moment to be given this opportunity, I feel it is an important step in my career.

“I know the team will be able to help me be at one with the bike, they have such a fantastic infrastructure to support and bring on young riders, I can’t wait to start working with everyone. Most of all now I’m with Aspar I believe I can achieve my potential, and I look forward to flying the Aspar flag proudly on my journey. Roll on 2025!”

Securing a seat within the Aspar set-up is a huge coup for the young British rider. An established team within the MotoGP paddock, Aspar have a full programme in place to help develop young talent and guide them into the world championship.

All eyes have been on the Aspar team this season due to the huge success of Moto3 World Champion David Alonso. The Colombian first joined Aspar aged 11 and has worked his way through the ranks from the Spanish Championship, all the way to Moto2 in 2025. Alonso became the first Grand Prix rider in history to win 14 races in a single season this year.

Alonso’s teammate in 2025 is Daniel Holgado, who also raced for Aspar’s Junior team and finished runner-up to Alonso this season. The Spaniard won the 2021 JuniorGP World Championship whilst racing alongside Alonso at Aspar.

Team owner Jorge Martinez recently launched a brand-new academy for both riders and mechanics, located at the team’s circuit in Guadassuar (Valencia). The venue also houses the team’s headquarters, as well as four competition circuits including a karting track, dirt track and two asphalt layouts.

“The Aspar Circuit becomes a centre for the development of talent at all levels,” The Aspar website states. “Here the young promises of motorcycling will receive advice for their technical, physical, academic and communication preparation.”
