Jake Dixon will move to the ELF MarcVDS team in the Moto2 World Championship next season.

The Brit move into the three-time Moto2 champions’ garage at the same time as the Belgian outfit swap to the Boscoscuro chassis which has dominated the intermediate class this season following the switch to Pirelli tyres.

Despite a rough start to 2024, with Dixon hurting himself at the opening round and consequently missing the first two races and not being able to score a point until his podium in Barcelona (round six), Dixon now finds himself seventh in the championship and 68 points behind the championship leader Sergio Garcia.

No rider in the Moto2 class has scored more points than Dixon across the past six races, with the former BSB runner-up securing three consecutive podiums, including an emotional victory at the British Grand Prix.

“Firstly, I want to say a huge thanks to Marc for giving me the opportunity to ride for such a fantastic team,” Dixon said. “They have been at the top in Moto2 for such a long time and won three titles and all I can say is it’s an absolute pleasure to be joining Elf Marc VDS Racing next season.

“I feel I am ready for a new challenge and a new adventure and moving to this team gives me so much motivation. I really can’t wait to get started next year and look forward to bringing more success to the team.”

Dixon isn’t the first Brit to have signed for MarcVDS. Sam Lowes spent four seasons with the team between 2020 and 2023, before moving to the World Superbike Championship as the team expanded into production racing this season.

Lowes finished runner-up to Enea Bastianini in 2020 and won seven races for Marc Van Der Straten’s team during his time inside their Moto2 garage.

MarcVDS finished one-two in the Moto2 championship in 2014 with Tito Rabat and Mika Kallio, whilst Franco Morbidelli (2017) and Alex Marquez (2019) also claimed the crown whilst riding for the team.

“I am personally very happy with the arrival of Jake Dixon to our team,” Van Der Straten said. “He is a fighter on and off the track and I love that. The 2025 season will be very important for us as we face the exciting challenge of competing with the Boscoscuro chassis.

“We need someone who is fast and able to quickly adapt to changes and Jake has these characteristics. I’m looking forward to seeing him fighting at the front and defending the VDS colours.”
