MotoGP: Jakub Gurecky has died

2021 Northern Talent Cup champion Jakub Gurecky has died at the age 16 following a minibike training accident in Slovakia.

Gurecky secured to the Northern Talent Cup crown last year after finishing on the podium in each of the opening eight races. During that stint, the Czech rider won four consecutive races at Le Mans, Oschersleben and the Sachsenring.

Gurecky clinched one more podium, at Assen, before the end of year and ended his campaign with an advantage of 33 points over runner-up, Luciano Lorenz. Gurecky had been selected to take part in the 2022 Red Bull Rookies Cup, continuing his journey towards a potential spot in the Moto3 world championship.

Our thoughts are with Jakub’s family, friends, and team at this difficult time.
