Moto2: Lowes dominates final preseason test

1 of 1

Sam Lowes has dominated the final day of preseason testing for the 2019 moto2 season at Qatar’s Losail circuit, ending the final day faster a quarter of a second faster than the opposition and in control not only on outright speed but also on race pace. Setting his fast lap in the penultimate session of the day and sitting out the final outing in cooling conditions, he topped the day’s first session by setting a fast lap time on lap twenty of his race run.

He leads fellow former MotoGP rider Tom Luthi, with a strong performance all weekend from Remy Gardner rounding out the top three. They’re joined in the top eight by Augusto Fernandez, Marcel Schrotter, Xavi Vierge, Jorge Navarro and Alex Marquez

Lowes’ fellow Brit Jake Dixon finished up 25th overall, well ahead of some established Moto2 contenders after only his first time at the Losail circuit. Still working to adapt to the stiff KTM chassis after spending his career on production bikes, he’s making solid progress ahead of this weekend’s opening round of the series.
