Moto3: McPhee penalised for Jerez crash

1 of 1

British racer John McPhee has been handed a six-place grid penalty for this weekend’s French Grand Prix, after he was deemed by race control to have caused the crash that took him, Dennis Foggia and Lorenzo Dalla Porta out of the Spanish Grand Prix.

He crashed at the second corner of the race in Jerez, colliding with Foggia and Dalla Porta, and was deemed by race control to have been ‘riding in an irresponsible manner causing a crash.’

That means that he will start this weekend’s race at Le Mans from at least six places further back from where he qualifies. However, a strong start to the weekend might help to limit the damage, with the CIP Moto KTM racer finishing free practice one in a strong fifth place.
