Moto3: Martin locks out the top spot at Jerez test

Moto3 front runner Jorge Martin has topped the final day of the 2018 pre-season by finishing ahead of his rivals in the lightweight class at the final test of the year at Jerez. He ended the three days after setting yesterday’s fastest lap as rain struck the Spanish track again today, leaving him ahead of Enea Bastianini and Aron Canet and pleased with the work he’s done.

“I believe the goal at the start was to find again the same perfect feeling we had last time out at Jerez de la Frontera and I must say we did it despite the reduced track-time. I personally think that there is still something that can be improved – especially under braking on corner entry. We also worked on the engine brake, so I can say we’re ready for the season debut!”

His teammate Fabio Di Giannantonio was fourth behind the Spanish duo, enduring that Honda locked out the top of the time sheets, with only Marco Bezzecchi able to come home in fifth on his PruestelGP KTM.

Alonso Lopez, Niccolo Antonelli, Tatsuki Suzuki , Lorenzo Dalla Porta and Livio Loi rounded out the top ten, while Brit John McPhee was 19th.
