MotoGP: Morbidelli and Quartararo finally confirmed at Petronas Yamaha

1 of 1

MotoGP’s newest team, the Petronas Sprinta Yamaha squad, has finally confirmed that their line up for 2019 will feature reigning Moto2 world champion Franco Morbidelli and 2018 race winner Fabio Quartararo, ending months of speculation about the squad, their riders and the future of Yamaha’s satellite team program.

Confirmed tonight in a press conference at the British Grand Prix in Silverstone, the announcement confirms news originally reported by MCN back in April, with the paddock rumour mill all but confirming the names of the team’s two riders in the interim.

They’ll be joined in the squad by Malaysian rider Khairul Idham Pawi on the team’s Moto2 machine, with Brit John McPhee lining up on one of their Moto3 bikes alongside current rider Ayumu Sasaki.

Pick up this week’s MCN for an extensive, 36-page British Grand Prix preview featuring exclusive interviews with Rossi, Marquez and Lorenzo, a hot lap with Cal Crutchlow and the tech secrets between Marquez’ championship-leading Honda.
