Moto3: Martin and Fenati double up for Honda

1 of 1

Jorge Martin and Romano Fenati have made it a Honda one-two at the top of the time sheets after the second day of Moto3 action in Qatar, topping the day’s only session to finish 0.172 apart and 0.170 ahead of yesterday’s fastest man Philipp Oettl.

Martin was able to able to string together a series of fast laps during the session working with teammate Fabio Di Giannantonio – but says that what they learnt during the session was even more important than the result.

“It’s been a fantastic day, which started with some great feeling with used tyres. Fabio and I helped each other during the session, but I was able to lap quick even when on my own. The time I set with fresh hard tyres was good, but I was starting to experience some problems already from the second lap so we still have to make a decision about whether to go for the medium or hard compound for the race.”

Oettl headed a KTM charge in third, with the Red Bull Ajo factory duo of Bo Bendsneyder and Niccolo Antonelli fourth and fifth. Andrea Migno, Aron Canet and Juanfran Guevara rounded out the top eight.

John McPhee rounded out a good day in tenth, pleased with their overall progress and with their Honda support after working with the manufacturer to improve on yesterday’s result.
