Moto3: Title contender Di Giannantonio breaks collarbone
Gresini Honda rider and 2017 Moto3 title contender Fabio Di Giannantonio’s season has gotten off to a bad start, after the 18-year-old crashed out of today’s private Valencia test and broke his collarbone in the process.
Falling at turn four during the unofficial test that has seen a handful of the Moto2 and Moto3 field complete their first laps of the year, the injury to his right collarbone requires surgery, which he’ll fly back to Italy for tomorrow.

Making a slow start to the year yesterday (along with many of the Moto3 field) as high winds hampered their first day of track action, the Roman admitted that the crash was the last thing he needed.
“Yesterday, in the first day of testing, we made just a few laps because of the strong wind and already this morning the second day of testing had not started in the best way, since I had immediately a slight crash. However, later we continued the test making a good job; in the final stages of the day we were doing some last set-up tests and probably because of cold tyres I made a high side, crashing and braking my right collarbone. It’s a shame, but my morale remains high: now I just need to get back in shape as soon as possible!”
