Moto3: SIC58 Squadra Corse launched ahead of debut season

Marco Simoncelli’s father Paulo has pulled the covers off the Moto3 machines that Tatsuki Suzuki and Tony Arbolino will campaign in the Moto3 world championship when the team steps up from the Junior series to the top level next month in Qatar.

Set up to honour Simoncelli following his death in Sepang five years ago, the team successfully competed in the Spanish series until this year – but Paulo says now they’re ready for the big step forwards.

“It seemed to me as if we’d made it when we reached the Moto3 championship, but now I see that we have to start over again. The team is preparing, and once we have the right structure in place we’ll start testing. We hope we’ll arrive in Qatar; we have a good team, a good crew chief, and we have two good riders. What are we missing? We hope we’ll be leading the way!”

And with Suzuki onboard, the team have an experienced rider who says that his two years’ experience in the class means that he’s ready to start improving his results now.

“The aim is to try to finish in the top five of the world championship, because I’ve taken a lot of experience from the last two years. I need now to use that experience and I think that the team can help me to do that too. It’s possible to make good results.”
