MotoGP: Zarco leads Vinales in sketchy FP3

Johann Zarco led the way as the track continued to dry during MotoGP free practice three.

The 3.6-mile circuit was left wet after a brief shower this morning, but with the quickest Moto3 times set on slicks most riders opted to wait a little as the MotoGP session got underway.

Towards the end of the session the track was almost back up to speed, with Zarco improving his time from Friday to move seventh on the combined timesheets.

Maverick Vinales would get within 0.6 seconds of his fastest time to place second on the FP3 timesheets ahead of the second Tech 3 Yamaha of Jonas Folger, whose time moves him up to 13th on the combined times.

Top of the overall timesheets, Cal Crutchlow was sixth quickest in this morning’s session ahead of Marc Marquez and Pol Espargaro.

Dani Pedrosa was ninth quickest this morning, but unable to improve his time from yesterday and will therefore have to fight it out in Q1 for his Q2 spot.

Scott Redding rounded out the morning session ahead of Valentino Rossi, Jack Miller and Jorge Lorenzo.

Bradley Smith would also improve his Friday time, placing 16th on the morning times and moving ahead of Sam Lowes overall.
