MotoGP: Dovi takes stunning last corner win

Andrea Dovizioso has taken a stunning last corner victory over Marc Marquez to win the Austrian Grand Prix for Ducati for the second year in a row – and to make amends for losing out in last year’s battle with teammate Andrea Iannone at the Red Bull Ring circuit.

The Italian put together an almost-perfect race to take the fight to Marquez in the closing stages of the race, after the duo caught his teammate Jorge Lorenzo around the half way point.

Dani Pedrosa was third, unable to close down the duo despite a valiant effort through the field, ahead of Lorenzo in fourth and a trio of Yamaha riders, as Johann Zarco once again beat the factory duo of Maverick Viñales and Valentino Rossi.

Satellite Ducati riders Alvaro Bautista and Loris Baz were eighth and ninth, while a wildcard appearance for Red Bull KTM test rider Mika Kallio at their home race left the Finnish racer inside the top ten.

Scott Redding was the best of the Brits in 12th, with Cal Crutchlow 15th after both a first lap tangle and a bad tyre choice, with Bradley Smith 18th and Sam Lowes 20th.
