Moto3: Perfect timing from McPhee delivers pole position

1 of 1

British Talent Team Honda rider John McPhee will start tomorrow’s Argentinian Grand Prix from pole position, after timing his fast lap to perfection as rain began to fall in the final stages of the 40-minute qualifying session.

The Scotsman, consistently fast all weekend at the Termas de Rio Hondo circuit, was able to get his lap done just as the rain began to spit, and fast laps at the same time from Nicolo Bulega and Aron Canet weren’t enough to demote him, with Jorge Martin squeezing in between the pair in third.

Fabio Di Giannantonio and Romano Fenati will start on the second row behind Canet, while Juanfran Guevara, Andrea Migno and Tatsuki Suzuki complete row three. However, winner last time out Joan Mir had a less successful session, and will start tomorrow from a distant 16th.
