MotoGP: Lack of Bridgestone experience a help for Lowes
Sam Lowes has admitted to MCN that he believes that his lack of experience on last year’s Bridgestone tyres will be a major asset to him as he continues his transition to MotoGP for the 2017 season.
Getting his first experience of the new Michelin tyres last week in a private test at Misano on the Aprilia RS-GP he’ll ride next season, Lowes said afterwards that he believes that he should be able to benefit.

“The Michelins will take some getting used to, but at the end of the day a tyre is a tyre. They don’t give that much feedback, so it’s hard to understand where you are with them. I’ve seen a lot of front end crashes this year, so I was cautious.
“The tyres we were testing were more like the ones from the start of the year, because all the current production is going to racing. I need to understand them a little more, find the limit, but I didn’t have any crashes and wasn’t pushing to the limit.
“The guys coming off the Bridgestones really hammered them right to the apex, which you can’t do with the Michelins, and I was a bit overcautious but there’s a happy medium that I think I’ll be able to find easier than them. I’ve got a clean slate.”
